4/16/21

 Today in class we focused on rhetorical devices. I definitely needed a clearing up on these. I also learned 3 new ones so that's great. This was perfect because during the lesson we had yesterday, I was thinking that I had problems with identifying rhetorical devices. Now that he went over them, I'm sure that I will be adept at identifying them on the exam! I also like the format of the lesson. I think it was very productive in helping us retain the information. I like how we saw wrong answers and were told why they were wrong. Overall today might have been one of my favorite days so far.

 Today in class we discussed a bellringer about whether education is boring or not. In my opinion, education isn't boring if you're looking at the bigger picture. But the work involved may be boring. There's also other factors. I actually enjoyed today's lesson a bit because he went over sources which helped. I was able to write a good claim and back it up with evidence from the provided texts. Overall a really good day.

Reflection 2/16/21

Today in class we started with an fun bell ringer. It took time to think about what exactly to write but, I was able to compose something meaningful. We then went over the poem ''We Real Cool".  The poem itself was rather short. It interests me to know that there are poems with not much length but heaps of meaning. This was a great exposure to a form of poetry I hardly knew existed. I am certainly glad to have read such a poem. My take on it is that because you will die one day it's important to live a fun life in your youth. We all grow up and such moments are brief in the grand scheme of things. I do appreciate the tone that the poem alludes. Overall, I really enjoyed today's lesson.

3/18/21

 Today in class we went over more synthesis essays. We looked at images and made claims about them. We learned that you can analyze images and make claims using the images alone or use the images as evidence. We also learned more about sources. To be honest, I am having a few issues with the recent prompts. They're pretty hard to understand without rereading them a lot. Of course I won't have time to do so during the exam. Hopefully he goes over them more or reexplains methods to comprehend the prompts.
